Crossing
Concept
From 84 right-angled color wedges, 21 color crosses, each with 4 colors on a black background, are created in passepartout format 29 x 29 cm. All 21 pictures have the frame format 50 x 50 cm. The selection and composition of the colors was done according to optical aspects. The proportional similarity to the black cross by Kasimir Malevich was purely coincidental.
Procedure
We determine the light and color values in the RGB color space for each wedge. We transform the luminance and convert the degree of chromaticity of each color into intervals. We define the hearing range of 4 octaves and determine the tonal values. Just as a cross has four directions, it now consists of four tones - a four-tone. Each four-note sound is played as a string quartet. What we hear are the individual four sounds of all 21 color crosses in a randomly generated sequence and in a permanent repetition. Hearing and seeing are transformed simultaneously in both directions as long as we are present.
21 pictures in frame format 50 x 50 cm as a hung row. Identical studio speakers on stands, or alternatively spherical speakers hanging from the ceiling or on stands. The acoustic recording should take place as a surround sound in the back of the picture. Offered seating to linger.
