From The Outside

Looking on the street, my eyes experience an acustic completion as every movement of traffic produces noises which reach my ears through the window.

With thick window glass the feedback between eye and ear does not work and the view turns into a kind of silent movie. My piece overrides this shield and redefines the situation.

Opposite the windows, I installed hollow bodies made of glass with small speakers inside them on a wall unit. A microphone installed on the buildings outer facade transmits the noise of the street to the inside through the speakers. The transmission causes the sound elements to vibrate within their glass casing.

The simultaneity of the event is preserved -however, it is transformed by the condition of the form and material. An entirely new correlation is being created for the everyday view of the street, a strange seeming interaction between eye and ear.
